Grey in Zakopane but sunny at Kasprowy? That is a temperature inversion – often the best hiking days in autumn and winter.
Snow plumes blowing off the ridge on the Kasprowy cameras mean strong wind. Exposed ridges such as Orla Perć or Rysy are then dangerous.
A white Morskie Oko from October to May means winter conditions higher up: crampons, ice axe and avalanche knowledge are needed.
Cameras tell you the weather, a guide tells you what is safe. We guide private groups in English: Morskie Oko, Rysy, Giewont, Kasprowy Wierch and quiet valleys away from the crowds, with pick-up in Zakopane or Kraków. See private tours in English →
TOPR keeps the cameras, weather stations and 24/7 rescue running largely from donations. If the webcams help you plan, consider supporting the TOPR Mountain Rescue Foundation [4].
