Tatra weather forecast – live for 17 places
Hour-by-hour mountain forecast for the next 48 hours and a 7-day outlook, recalculated for the real altitude of each place: Kasprowy Wierch, Giewont, Rysy, Zakopane, Lomnický štít, Štrbské Pleso and more. Wind, gusts, low cloud and fog are what matter most in the Tatras – all of them are shown here.
- The forecast is computed live from MET Norway for the exact altitude of each point [1]. Mountain summits can be 10–15 °C colder and much windier than Zakopane.
- Wind above 50 km/h on ridges such as Orla Perć, Rysy or the Red Peaks makes them dangerous. Look at the gusts row, not only the average wind.
- From November to May check the avalanche bulletin of TOPR (Poland) and HZS (Slovakia) [4][5].
- Summer afternoons bring thunderstorms. Plan to be off summits and ridges by early afternoon.

Roughly 0.6 °C per 100 m. When it is 12 °C in Zakopane (830 m), expect around 5 °C on Kasprowy Wierch (1987 m), and colder with wind chill.
High low-cloud percentage at summit level means walking in fog – route finding on rocky ridges becomes difficult.
On summer days with rain showers forecast after 13:00, start at dawn. Lightning on chained sections (Giewont, Rysy) is a real danger.
A warm, violent foehn wind from the south, mainly in autumn and spring. Gusts over 100 km/h on ridges – stay in the valleys.
A guide reads the forecast, the avalanche bulletin and the webcams every morning and chooses the route that works that day. We guide private tours in English all year round. Private English-speaking guide → · Tatra webcams · Morskie Oko guide
